About EISC

Established in 1999 as a permanent forum for inter-parliamentary co-operation in space between the European national parliaments interested in space policy, it aims at facilitating the exchange of information on space activities and at promoting mutual understanding of national policies through the provision of a forum for analyzing the major issues at stake in the European space sector. This forum is supported by the European Space Policy Institute (ESPI).

Secretariat

The Presidency is supported, at its discretion, by the European Space Policy Institute (ESPI), the European think tank for space, based in Vienna, Austria.

ESPI is responsible for ensuring coordination and communications between members and the acting Presidency and serves as a Secretariat for the organisation.

Members

The full members of the EISC decide upon full membership, associate membership and observer status, based on an official application of the national parliament concerned. This request is made to the Presidency of the EISC, communicated to the full members and approved by all full members present at the following Annual Conference.

1. Full Members

EISC full members are the following national parliaments of the member states of the European Union and/or of the European Space Agency that have created a parliamentary body dealing with space affairs:

United Kingdom

2.Associate Members

EISC associate members are national parliaments of states not being full members of the European Union and/or the European Space Agency that have created a parliamentary body dealing with space affairs.

3.Observers

EISC observers are national parliaments of the member states of the European Union and/or of the European Space Agency that have not created a parliamentary body dealing with space affairs.

Activities

EISC has three types of activities

Workshop

Annual workshop on a theme decided upon by the rotating Presidency of EISC to discuss space-related policies

Plenary Session

Annual conference to further discuss space-related policies and adopt a resolution

Resolution

Each year, EISC members draft and vote a Resolution on a space-related topic put at the agenda of the plenary session
